Our Story

Discover the heart and soul behind The Gilded Spoon, a New Orleans culinary gem.

Our History

The Gilded Spoon was founded in 2010 by Chef Antoine Dubois, a New Orleans native with a lifelong passion for Cajun and Creole cuisine. Growing up in the heart of the French Quarter, Antoine learned the secrets of Louisiana cooking from his grandmother, Mémère Élise, who ran a bustling family kitchen. He spent countless hours by her side, absorbing the aromas and techniques that would later define his culinary style.

After graduating from the Culinary Institute of America, Antoine returned to New Orleans with a vision: to create a restaurant that honored the rich culinary heritage of Louisiana while embracing modern techniques and flavors. He envisioned a place where guests could experience the warmth and hospitality of a traditional New Orleans home, while indulging in exquisite dishes made with the freshest local ingredients.

With the support of his family and friends, Antoine transformed a historic building on Royal Street into The Gilded Spoon, a restaurant that quickly became a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike. From the beginning, The Gilded Spoon was committed to providing an exceptional dining experience, characterized by impeccable service, a sophisticated ambiance, and, of course, unforgettable food.

Over the years, The Gilded Spoon has received numerous accolades, including being named one of the "Top 10 Restaurants in New Orleans" by *Louisiana Eats Magazine* and earning a coveted "Four Diamond" rating from the American Automobile Association. But for Antoine and his team, the greatest reward is the satisfaction of their guests, who return time and again to savor the flavors of The Gilded Spoon.

In 2018, The Gilded Spoon expanded its operations, opening a second location in the Garden District. This new location features a spacious outdoor patio and a private dining room, perfect for special events and celebrations. Despite its growth, The Gilded Spoon remains true to its original mission: to provide an authentic and unforgettable New Orleans dining experience.

Our Culinary Philosophy

At The Gilded Spoon, our culinary philosophy is rooted in a deep respect for tradition and a commitment to innovation. We believe that the best dishes are made with the freshest, highest-quality ingredients, sourced locally whenever possible. Our seafood is delivered daily from Louisiana fishermen, and our produce comes from nearby farms. We take pride in using sustainable practices and supporting our local community.

Chef Antoine Dubois and his team are passionate about preserving the authentic flavors of Cajun and Creole cuisine. We use time-honored techniques to create dishes that are both familiar and exciting. From our signature Gumbo Ya Ya, slow-cooked to perfection with andouille sausage, chicken, and okra, to our delectable Crawfish Étouffée, simmered in a rich and creamy sauce, each dish is a testament to our commitment to culinary excellence.

But we also believe in pushing the boundaries of traditional cuisine. We experiment with new flavors and techniques, always striving to create dishes that are both innovative and delicious. Our seasonal menus feature unique creations that showcase the best of Louisiana's bounty. Whether it's a seared Gulf Coast snapper with Creole meunière sauce or a roasted duck with fig and pecan dressing, our dishes are designed to surprise and delight.

More than just a restaurant, The Gilded Spoon is a place where people come together to celebrate food, culture, and community. We believe that dining is an experience, and we strive to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where guests can relax and enjoy the company of friends and family. Our attentive and knowledgeable staff is dedicated to providing impeccable service, ensuring that every visit to The Gilded Spoon is a memorable one.

“Food is our common ground, a universal experience.”
